What to Expect When You’re Expecting

Big Idea:

• Women are ceremonially unclean for a week after giving birth to a boy.

• Baby boys must be circumcised after a week.

• Women are ceremonially unclean for 2 weeks after giving birth to a girl.

• When a new mother is ceremonially clean again, she is to sacrifice a year-old lamb for a burnt offering, and a dove or pigeon for a sin offering.

• But if she cannot afford a lamb, she may sacrifice two doves or pigeons.

Note:

• It is really beautiful that options are given to the poor. It reminds me that salvation is available to everyone.
