Leviticus 7 — Sketch

God Provides for the Priests

Big Idea:

  • Priests are allowed to eat the guilt offering.

  • They may keep the hide of the burnt offering.

  • And they may share the grain offerings equally among them.

  • Fellowship offerings of thankfulness – grains – belong to the priest who sprinkles blood.

  • Offerings freely given or connected to vows may be eaten on the day they are given with leftovers saved for the next day.

  • No one may eat blood or fat.

Jesus:

  • This is a stretch, but the priests getting to benefit from some of the offerings makes me think God is trying to remind them that the sacrifices are to bring Joy.  After all, we are told that Jesus, our High Priest, endured the cross for the Joy it would bring.
