Exodus 31 — Thoughts

God Makes You into a Work of Art

I love that the Bible honors artists.

It makes sense, given that God Himself is an artist. He created our whole world – supernovas, sunsets, the Grand Canyon, my beautiful wife. God is an artist in every way.

Genesis says that we are made in God’s image. One of the best examples of this is how our creative abilities reflect our Creator God. When we imagine new ideas, craft innovations, and express ourselves, we live out a major part of the image of God in us.

That image gets clearer the closer we are to Jesus. “In him all things were created,” but His masterpiece is the new life He creates in each of us when we trust Him. He makes us into new creations — utterly different from what we once were. And that difference is a testament to the beautiful creativity of our artist God.
