Exodus 35 — Sketch

Preparing to Build the Tabernacle

Big Idea:

  • God has Moses remind Israel to keep the Sabbath.

  • God tells Israel to bring materials for the Tabernacle as offerings.

  • God tells the skilled people to come help make the Tabernacle.

  • Everyone in Israel willingly obeys.

  • Bezalel and Oholiab direct the construction process.

Jesus in This Chapter:

What struck me about this chapter is that none of the offerings were forced from the Israelites.  There was no tax or extortion.  “All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the LORD freewill offerings.“ They willingly made that sacrifice. Jesus also made his sacrifice willingly.  He chose to subject himself to the cross and He made that choice motivated by joy. And because of his willing sacrifice, we have new life.
