Exodus 39 — Thoughts

Is Your Name on Jesus’ Heart?

As the High Priest, Aaron represented the people of Israel to God. He even wore a breastpiece of twelve precious stones, each with the name of a different Israelite tribe on it. Essentially, he held the peoples names over his heart as he stood before God on their behalf.

Today, Jesus is our High Priest, the only one we’ll ever need. Like Aaron, He is the mediator between God and us — our only Mediator. And like Aaron He is our Advocate before God — showing that our sins are forgiven.

But unlike Aaron, Jesus Himself is the sacrifice, our substitute, paying the price for our sins and earning our salvation.

I love the thought that, like Aaron, Jesus might act as our high priest with our names held over His heart. His sacrifice was an act of love for us after all.
