Leviticus 5 — Sketch

Unintentional Sin

Big Idea:

  • Guilt offerings—for unintentional sins—can be female lambs or goats.

  • The poor may use doves instead. One is a sin offering, and its blood is sprinkled on the altar. The other is a burnt offering.

  • If doves can’t be afforded, flour with oil and incense can be used.

  • A flawless ram must be offered for unintentional sin.

Jesus:

  • The sacrifices of the animals were a symbol for the ultimate sacrifice that would be made by Jesus centuries later.

  • I think it’s really beautiful that the poor have multiple options. It shows God’s unconditional love in his desire to have a relationship with everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
